It’s Alphabe-Thursday over at Jenny Matlock’s and this week’s letter is “J” – this time of year we all turn into jugglers. The court jester of days long ago entertained his audience by keeping a number of balls, hats and even knives in the air without dropping a one. In the 21st Century, our list of items to keep going has extended way beyond such simple things. We have become pros at multi-tasking whether it be at our office or around the house. Our labor-saving devices have not eased up the work load, only allowed us to increase what we can put into each of those 24 hours we are given.
During this holiday season, particularly for women, it calls for turning into a Juggler with a capital J. Preparing the house with decorations, addressing cards, arranging get togethers, extra baking and cooking, the list goes on. If you fall into that Young Parent bracket, there are added school plays and concerts, teachers gifts and trying to please every child on your list with the most current toy. If you are a craft person or love to sew, the pressure can really start to mount up. The convenience of shopping for a ready made gift may not be quite what will satisfy you…it must be homemade! It is an expression of not only your creativity, but a way of saying “I took a little extra time.”
It is now the first of December and my time clock is ticking…the first deadline has been met – just barely. Our Liberty Ladies Quilt History Study Group is exchanging gifts and cookies and this is my offering. Raspberry Stick Cookies and a little quilted piece for someone’s table, made in reproduction fabrics.
My juggling act has begun – I have turned into a Juggler – therefore I am.
“J” is for juggler – thank you for dropping by and be sure to visit the other letter “J” postings!
Have a good Thursday…
Pat

isn’t every mom that way !! juggle juggle juggle !!
I’m a new empty nester, and I’m still juggling! Your quilt runner is lovely — and you bake, too!
Excellent choice of J-word with a very timely interpretation! Thank you for mentioning how women must juggle all of their different roles and unpaid, unsung duties!
Great post!

Anna’s J-post(Jenny)
I always enjoy reading all the posts and you sure got this one right. Your quilted piece is very nice and looks wonderful under the plate of goodies. Great use of the letter “J”.
I always have tried to keep cool the huzzle and buzzle of Christmas time and then I have always considered that men can do the same than women in the household ! My son loves to cook and Mr.G. shares the household tasks with me. Christmas gifts I buy the whole year, I hate to go shopping when everybody is going and the shops are full !
Clever AND true. I was just commenting on another blog that I had tried to learn to juggle with no success.
Now I realize that I AM a juggler. In fact, quite a proficient one!!
=)
Women are definitely natural “jugglers”. Great post!
I do feel like I am juggling this month. There is so much too do it is sometimes hard to start.
Juggler? Oh! I thought you said “jugular”!!
It really is a juggling act this time of year! Good luck and hope you don’t drop a deadline.
Your quilt work is beautiful! I wish I could come down there a eat some of your scones and drink some coffee. Hope your holiday season is filled with cheer!
I’ve been knitting up a storm – I have more fun making these few, small gifts than anyone could possibly have in a mall!
Your quilting is so beautiful – someday I am going to have that kind of fun!
The table runner looks just as beautiful on my coffee table – I love it – it’s perfect! Thank you so very much!
I’m quilting through you, Pat and the cookies look great. Come by my blog to get your award! Nancy
I am trying to juggle my way through right now … it’s not that easy … i almost wish i was juggling knives … well butter knives … make that plastic butter knives … lol
What great gifts! The quilt is lovely and raspberry sticks sound yummy!
What a wonderful stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday!
I can really relate to the juggling analogy. I feel like I have about 12 balls up in the air…and all of them are falling on my head – ha!
Your runner is gorgeous. And those cookies look delicious. Would you be willing to share the recipe? The lucky recipient is going to be doing a dance of joy when they open this prize.
Thanks for a joyful stop.
