It has finally happened…that killing frost that officially ends our summer (and such a strange one this year) here in Northern Wisconsin. It occurred last Tuesday night when we dropped into the low 20’s. On Wednesday morning this is what greeted us from the warmth of our great room (thankfully a nice fire had been lit first thing by my husband.) A frost covered ground and vapor rising from the pond’s surface…
Everything was tipped in white crystals… my clematis
The Siberian Iris leaves…
The log railing along the east facing deck…
And, alas, my favorite lavender chair had a fine coating which glistened…no more Amaretto Slush’s on a warm afternoon (until next year!)
All of this put me in the mood to continue arranging more fall color on the inside…
This quilt belongs to our son…Dave’s 3rd Weekend in October. I have it folded in half as it is quite large. It was one of the Blue Ribbon quilts that was displayed during the Bed Turning at our show. It will be returned to him, hopefully in 2010, when we make another trip to Alaska.
And a new pillow made by my dear friend, Connie, who visited last weekend…I just love it! The embroidered piece is from Buttermilk Basin Patterns.
We had such a good time together – though much too brief! A special lunch at our favorite tea room – Johanna May’s…treasured moments with both our Mom’s.
Katrina, who owns Johanna May’s, makes the best scones – you can get them in one of her sandwiches or alongside a bowl of delicious soup.
Whether it is with a bunch of quilting buddies or just a quiet table for two, the atmosphere is always a delight.
Times to hold close and remember from a wonderful Fall weekend.I hope you are enjoying this seasonal time…where ever you live.
I won’t have a pin cushion to share with you this week. We are too busy preparing for THE GAME on Monday Night Football. Why – because it is October, it is football season and the Packers are gonna meet beat the Vikes!
Are you ready for some football?????!!!!!!!!! We sure are!
Now where did I put that purple voodoo doll…………….that was naughty!
Have a great week everyone and
Always take time to stitch…
Pat
